U.S. DISTRICT COURT -- The jury in former Gov. George Ryan's trial appears to be plodding through 5 1/2 months of evidence in the historic case.
The six-woman, six-man jury completed its fifth day of deliberations Wednesday without reaching a verdict.
Deliberations are scheduled to resume Thursday morning.
Wednesday marked the third consecutive day that jurors deliberated without issuing a written question of U.S. District Judge Rebecca Pallmeyer.
Deliberations began anew last week after Pallmeyer excused two jurors, replaced them with alternates and ordered that the six-month-long trial continue. The Tribune revealed that both jurors apparently concealed arrest records during jury selection. The original jury had met for eight days before those deliberations were suspended.
