BGA Joins Reform For Illinois and Other Allies to Advocate for a Safe and Robust November Election

To ensure participation, we support legislation that would provide every voter with a postage-paid ballot. At the same time, it's important to preserve and protect in-person polling places.

Long lines and last-minute poll closures, confusion and apprehension. We’ve seen the effects of holding a primary election during a pandemic. It’s imperative that Illinois leaders take steps now to prevent COVID-19 from disrupting the November election.

The Better Government Association is partnering with Reform For Illinois, League of Women Voters IL and the Rainbow PUSH Coalition to advocate for measures that will promote voter participation even if conditions make in-person balloting unsafe on Election Day.

In particular, we support sending every registered voter a postage-paid ballot. This ensures them the option to vote if polling places are restricted because of public health concerns.
