The Better Government Association’s Policy Team joins the League of Women Voters of Cook County in asking the Cook County Health Systems (CCHS) Board to livestream their meetings.

CCHS receives over $100 million from county taxpayers through the County budget and therefore should strive to be as transparent as possible. Livestreaming and recording of meetings is a good government practice that allows organizations and residents to be engaged in government even when they cannot attend meetings in person. The Cook County and Forest Preserve Boards videotape public meetings and hearings – as does the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District.

The team’s support of livestreaming was noted in a letter to the board dated January 11, 2019.
