Rachel L. Leven
Rachel Leven is the BGA’s policy manager focusing on Chicago and Cook County. Before joining the BGA, Leven ran communications for the City of Chicago Office of Inspector General (OIG), a nationally renowned municipal oversight agency. Leven helped steer OIG through two major ordinance reforms, expanding the Office’s jurisdiction to Chicago’s City Council and police accountability oversight.
Leven also worked at the intersection of state and local policy issues for the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality and spent a year in India as a Fulbright Scholar, researching waste management and recycling. She holds a master’s in public policy from Duke University’s Sanford School and a B.A. from Tufts University. Leven lives in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood.
