The BGA policy team visited the state capitol last week to hear Gov. Bruce Rauner’s State of the State Address and to speak with lawmakers about elements of the BGA’s 2016 legislative agenda.

Afterwards, policy coordinator Judy Stevens and policy analyst Alden Loury spoke on air with WMAY’s Jim Leach.

Stevens and Loury said that while the governor spoke in a conciliatory tone and stated that he’s willing to compromise on a budget, he insisted that Illinois needs the structural reforms he’s proposed in order to improve its business climate. They also discussed some of the BGA’s legislative goals including greater transparency of law enforcement and the consolidation of duplicative units of government.
