Amber Bel'Cher
Amber Bel’cher (she/her) is Vice President of Development at the Better Government Association, where she leads philanthropic strategy and revenue growth in support of investigative journalism, policy and civic engagement across Illinois.
With nearly two decades of experience, she partners closely with executive leadership and boards to align philanthropy, strategy and operations. She has led sustained double-digit revenue growth while strengthening the systems, pipelines and cross-organizational collaboration required for long-term impact.
Bel’cher brings deep expertise in major donor engagement, board partnership, and data-informed decision-making, and is known for translating complex organizational priorities into clear, actionable strategies. Her career spans both cultural and civic organizations, including the Chicago Humanities Festival, Goodman Theatre, Writers Theatre, Chicago Children’s Museum, and now the Better Government Association.
She holds an MFA from Roosevelt University and a BA from Texas A&M University
