Open or Shut Case: COVID-19 and the Fight for Public Records

July 7, 2020 @ 2:00 pm

Secret City Council meetings, destruction of police files, and statewide access to public records: They’ve all been on the line in the last few weeks. Using COVID-19 as cover, governments in Chicago and Springfield have sought to go behind closed doors and shut out the public—but the Better Government Association has been there to stop them.

Zoom into a one-of-a-kind event as three experts explain it all to BGA President David Greising. They are:

  • Daniel Bevarly, executive director of the National Freedom of Information Coalition
  • Marie Dillon, BGA’s policy director
  • Matt Topic, BGA’s outside general counsel

The 45-minute discussion will uncover the stakes at risk in the BGA’s fight to hold government accountable.

Register here. You will receive a confirmation with a Zoom link and an opportunity to submit questions for the BGA team to answer. Capacity is limited.

Thank you for supporting the BGA!
