Last year, the General Assembly created a special commission to propose ethics reforms in response to a federal criminal investigation that continues to ensnare public officials in Springfield and elsewhere. The bipartisan commission was charged with proposing changes to five specific laws. Its recommendations were due March 31.
The BGA joined its allies from Reform For Illinois, Common Cause Illinois and CHANGE Illinois in calling on the commission to release its report to allow time for meaningful public engagement before the fall veto session.
