The Better Government Association and its good government allies are committed to working with state lawmakers to enact meaningful ethics reform. We were surprised and disappointed that a lengthy but deeply flawed bill surfaced at the end of the lame duck session after months of silence from the Joint Commission on Ethics and Lobbying Reform, which was supposed to produce its recommendations last March. The bill did not pass.
We look forward to resuming our efforts in the transparent and inclusive manner in which we began. Our joint statement to the General Assembly is shared below.
